The 25 confirmed countries for Intervision
The stage is being set for one of 2025's most significant musical and cultural events as Moscow prepares to host the revived Intervision Song Contest in September. Russian President Vladimir Putin officially signed a decree in February 2025 formalizing the competition's return, with the stated goal of "developing international cultural and humanitarian cooperation."
Confirmed Participants and Growing Interest
While organizers have been relatively tight-lipped about releasing a complete official list, more than 25 countries are reported to be interested in competing in the contest. The participation appears to center around several key regional and political groupings.
Around 20 countries, including all BRICS nations, have confirmed their participation, making the economic bloc a cornerstone of the competition. The current BRICS membership includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia (which joined in January 2025).
Earlier reports from Russian officials mentioned specific countries including Azerbaijan, Belarus, Brazil, China, Cuba, and Kazakhstan among the participants.
With organizers predicting that search interest in "Intervision" could rival that of Eurovision, the September contest in Moscow promises to be a defining moment in the evolution of international song competitions, potentially reshaping the global music contest landscape beyond its European origins.
